The page states Stage 1 fire restrictions are in place park-wide (Fire Restrictions updated 9/18/2026). Campfires are prohibited throughout RMNP except within designated campfire rings in picnic areas and frontcountry campgrounds. Charcoal grills and charcoal briquettes are allowed only in designated areas with a metal fire ring or grate (developed campgrounds, some picnic areas, some designated wilderness campsites). Portable charcoal grills, wood fuel camp stoves, and propane/butane gas stoves are stated as allowed. Petroleum-fueled stoves are allowed in developed campgrounds and picnic areas and require a permit in designated wilderness sites. The park may enforce stricter fire bans. Alcohol, solid fuel, and stove shutoff valve rules are not addressed.
