Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
Campfire and fire-use rules for this area, with each localized order the land manager has published.
Campfires only in developed sites.
Developed sitesStanding park regulation (Section 2.13(a)(1)) prohibits lighting or maintaining a fire except in established government receptacles in North Rim and South Rim Campgrounds, designated picnic areas at East Portal and High Point, and employee residential areas. Fires are prohibited in the wilderness/backcountry, while self-contained stoves and lanterns are permitted. The superintendent may temporarily ban fires and/or stove use during high fire danger, but the text shows no such temporary order in effect.

We track each forest's orders and alerts. Every rule links to its source. Rules change fast in fire season, so check with the forest before your trip. Posted signs and official orders always win.
