Coming from onX

Import your waypoints and lines, check their symbols, and download maps for your trip.

You can bring saved items from onX into Glassing with a GPX file. Glassing also reads KML and KMZ files. The import preview shows what the file contains before you add it to your library.

Export from onX

The steps below follow the official help pages checked on September 9, 2026. Use the guide for your onX product; the menus and supported formats can differ.

onX Hunt and Backcountry

If your Hunt subscription has expired: onX says your saved items remain, but access to My Content ends. Its cancellation guide advises exporting before expiry. The web steps below are not a verified way around that restriction.

If export is blocked, ask onX support for a GPX or KML copy of your saved items, or temporary access to export them. This is a request you can make, not a confirmed workaround. Their privacy policy also explains how to request access to your personal information; it does not promise a GPX or KML export.

Backcountry's export guide explicitly allows exporting with any membership level. That statement applies to Backcountry, not Hunt.

On the web, open My Content, choose Select, select the items or Select All, then choose Export. Check any map-area or category filters before treating the selection as your whole library.

On iPhone, open My Content, tap Select, and select your items. Swipe left along the bottom row of actions to reveal Export. Hunt also documents exporting a folder by opening it and using that action row.

onX Offroad

The Offroad guide documents Export in an item's three-dot menu under My Content. The app exports GPX; its web map also supports KML. Turn off Filter list as map moves to see items outside the current map area.

Choose the format before exporting

For Hunt and Backcountry, use GPX for recorded tracks and KML for planned lines. Their guides warn that KML turns tracks into lines, while GPX turns lines into tracks. KML export requires the web map. Glassing does not import polygon areas.

Keep your exported files until you've checked the results in Glassing. Check important notes and symbols too: an export may omit customizations, and Glassing cannot recover information missing from the file.

Open your export

Open your exported file in Glassing from the share sheet. If you saved it in Files, tap the Glassing logo in Glassing, then Import a file, and select it.

Choose the items you want and check which trip they will go into. Glassing can suggest trips based on where and when you saved your items. You can choose an existing trip or make a new one instead.

Likely duplicates start unchecked. Glassing compares locations and lines rather than names. Leave those items unchecked unless you want another copy, then tap Import.

Check your waypoints and lines

Glassing reads waypoint symbols when the file includes them, including onX icon information. For waypoints without a symbol, it can suggest one from the name. Check the symbols in the preview; you can also change them later from a waypoint's panel.

Glassing uses the line type in the exported file: a GPX track becomes a track, a GPX route becomes a route, and a KML line without point timestamps becomes a route. Areas drawn as polygons do not import. Check the preview's counts against what you meant to bring over.

GPX does not include photos. Add photos from your photo library through the waypoint's Add button. Photos included inside a KMZ file import with their waypoints; linked images are not downloaded.

Download maps for your trip

Your imported waypoints and lines do not include downloaded maps. Download the grids for your destination in Glassing, then check the area in airplane mode. Start here explains how.

If you use land boundaries to plan a trip, check Ownership coverage for the areas Glassing includes. Imported waypoints do not bring land ownership data with them. A parcel boundary does not establish permission to cross it.

You don't need an account to use Glassing. Sign in to sync between devices. Downloaded maps stay usable after your subscription ends, and exporting your waypoints, tracks, and routes as GPX stays free. See Account, sync, and support.
