Print a map
Print a topo sheet from glassing.app, or save one as a PDF.
glassing.app prints the map as one sheet of paper at a true scale, with a UTM grid and a margin like a USGS quad's. Printing is on glassing.app only.
Print a sheet
Open the layers panel and choose Print this view, or press ⌘P (Ctrl-P on Windows). To print a waypoint, route, track, or trip, open it and choose Print from its menu.
A frame on the map shows the ground the sheet covers. Move the map to place it. The map stays north up while Print is open, because the sheet is.
Choose the look, paper, and scale on the card, then Print…, or press ⌘P again. The browser's print dialog opens with the sheet. Print it from there, or save it as a PDF.
Print at 100%, not fit to page, so the scale on the sheet stays true.
Choices
- Look: Color, or Black & white for a black-and-white printer or copier.
- Paper: Letter (8½ × 11 inches) or Tabloid (11 × 17 inches), landscape or portrait.
- Scale: 1:24,000, a USGS quad's scale, puts 2,000 feet in an inch. 1:12,000 shows a quarter of that ground in more detail, and 1:50,000 about four times as much.
The card says how much ground the sheet covers. A saved item's sheet is centered on it, at 1:24,000 if it fits and 1:50,000 if not.
On the sheet
The sheet prints the Topo map, whichever map or look is on screen. Your routes, tracks, and waypoints print over it.
The title is the saved item's name or the nearest name on the map. Type a new one on the card to change it.
The margin gives the scale, the contour interval, true, grid, and magnetic north, a legend, and the sources.
Printing takes an account and a subscription.
