Follow a route or find a spot
Start directions, read progress, reverse direction, and end navigation.
Open a saved route, track, or waypoint and tap its navigation arrow. To head toward an unsaved spot, tap the map in Explore and use the arrow in its panel. Allow location access if asked.
Navigate appears as a third mode in the bottom bar when you start following. It stays available while you use Explore or Record and disappears when you tap End.
Head toward a waypoint
Open the waypoint and tap its navigation arrow. Glassing draws a straight line toward it and shows distance and bearing in Navigate. An unsaved spot works the same way.
Point navigation does not find a trail around obstacles. It has no route elevation panel or reverse-direction control.
Follow a route
Open a saved route or track and tap its navigation arrow. Glassing follows the saved line. Navigate shows your progress, with the elevation profile above the bar.
When you start near a route's far end, Glassing may follow it in reverse. Use the reverse-direction control to follow the other way. This control is available for routes and tracks.
Read your progress
The large number is the distance remaining along the route or track. For a waypoint, it is the straight-line distance to the point. The bar also shows bearing and distance to the next turn. A time estimate appears while a recording is measuring your pace.
Routes and tracks have a panel with remaining distance, climb, and an elevation profile. Drag along the profile to find that part of the route on the map.
Panning the map stops it from following your position. Tap the locate arrow to center on yourself again.
Off-route and arrival alerts
Glassing alerts you after you have stayed more than 50 m off the line for about 20 seconds. It allows more distance when location accuracy is poor. The phone buzzes once and shows how far off route you are.
The line back to the route is a direction, not a checked path. Waypoint navigation does not give off-route alerts.
The bar reads Arrived after you remain within 30 m of the end for about 15 seconds.
The lock screen card
Glassing puts one card on the lock screen for as long as a recording is running or a line is being followed, and takes it away when both end. Check it without unlocking the phone.
Following a route or track, the card names the line, gives the distance still to go as its large number, and draws how far along the line you are. Its second line names the next turn and how far it is. Following a waypoint or spot, that line gives a compass point to hold, such as ESE, instead of a turn.
Recording without following, the card says what the recording is doing — Recording, Max detail, Break, or Paused — over the elapsed time, distance, and ascent. Doing both at once, the line's name and remaining distance take the card, the recording state reads beside the name, and elapsed time and distance walked read below.
The card carries one button, which pauses or resumes the recording. It is there whenever a recording is on the card.
Off route, the large number changes color and the second line shows how far off the line you are. It reads as before once you are back on. Off-route, back-on-route, and arrival notifications are sent only while the app is not open; Glassing asks permission to send them when you start following a route or track.
The card's numbers change at most every 30 seconds. A change in what the recording is doing, a new next turn, and leaving or rejoining the line show at once. A card that has not heard from Glassing for 15 minutes reads Not updating in place of its numbers.
Arriving ends following and takes the line off the card. The card goes away with it unless a recording is still running.
Turning off Live Activities, or swiping the card away, changes nothing about the recording or the line being followed. The card is not put back.
Ask Siri
"Stop recording in Glassing" saves the track without opening the app. "Start recording in Glassing", "Drop a pin in Glassing", and "Take me back to my truck in Glassing" open the app; marking a spot and heading for the truck need your position from the map. Starting a recording while one is paused continues that track instead of starting a second.
The truck request draws a straight line to the nearest waypoint carrying the Parked symbol. With no Parked waypoint saved, Glassing uses the nearest one named for a vehicle, such as Truck or Trailhead. With neither, it says no trailhead pin is saved.

End navigation
Tap End in Navigate to stop following. An active recording keeps running. To finish that too, switch to Record and stop it separately.
